Snow Fun

Back before Christmas I talked about the warmer weather and the lack of snow because of that weather. When you talk about it, it’s sure to jinx it and that I did. We’ve gotten plenty of cold weather since and with it we’ve also gotten snow. The weather has at least cooperated some so that it’s been warm enough to play in it.

We got our white Christmas and the kids were able to play in it the next day. Not just the young kids but the big kids too. It was a fun time for us all. The kids are getting really good at snowball fights.

We just got another round of snow last week. Troy came home early from work to beat the bad traffic and also to clear the driveway (to only have to do it again). While he cleared the driveway the Cohen and Sevea played in the snow. When Troy was done Cohen was itching to get a sled ride. Grandma gave Cohen a really cool snowmobile sled for Christmas and he was really excited to try it out. Each kid took turns but Brynna was more into the swings like usual. Doesn’t she know she can swing in the summer! Either way the kids always have a great time in the snow. Troy and I can’t help but enjoy the snow a little more because of them.

Off to bed

Most kids are the best at sleeping anywhere and in some crazy positions. Brynna had started preferring a new sleeping position way back in September. I thought maybe it was a one or two night type deal. Nope she continued to sleep this way for months.

I even caught her in an extra special sleeping position at nap time. :)

She slept this way for months. Why she wanted to sleep with her feet propped up on the bed rails or in such a small space is puzzling to me. But she’s taken to a whole new sleeping situation…

We’ve graduated to a big girl bed!!! We transitioned both Sevea and Cohen to the crib bed without the front crib rail first. But her room still had the single bed in it just waiting for when she was ready. She had taken a couple naps in our big bed recently and we asked if she wanted to try her big girl bed but she always said no.

Then one night she said she wanted to sleep in the bed and not the crib. So I let her. I figured she’d ask to be moved to the crib within minutes. We didn’t hear from her until the next morning. It wasn’t until I checked the monitor that I remembered I put her in the bed. We praised her for being such a big girl. She has taken naps and went to bed in her big girl bed since. We officially do not have a crib set up in our kids bedrooms. It is set up for daycare downstairs…so like diapers we aren’t totally rid of it yet :) So crazy to see our little baby growing up so quickly. I really need time to slow down with this girl. I mean I just moved my little boy who is two years older into a bigger bed ;)

Superhero Cohen

x354-q80

Our little boy loves all things superheroes. Every shirt he wants to wear each morning has some kind of superhero on it. He likes pretending to be superheroes as he plays with his friends. Every superhero has at least one person in their life that knows their true identity. Well Cohen shared his with us…Big Kid Cohen! It was only fitting that we convert the baby room from all the animals, the changing table, and crib turned daybed. And of course we had to turn his room into something fitting for a Superhero. He loves his new room. Mom and Dad loved how easy it was (one stop at Hobby Lobby for all decor and one stop at IKEA for bedding). It may not be an extravagant room but Superheroes are often pretty normal people just with special powers. He definitely is learning what his special powers are each and everyday. I’m hoping he doesn’t figure out a super power to grow up super fast…he’s already doing that fast enough as it is.
