The three B’s…Brynna, Bed, Bowl

Troy and I were never ones to let our kids sleep in our bed with us. I remember one time that I brought Cohen into bed with us and it was short lived. Sevea I can’t recall a single time. She did sleep next to our bed on the floor if she was sick or something but never in bed with us. Well then Brynna happened. As an infant we still never slept in bed with her. There were many many many nights sleeping with her in the chair but we just weren’t comfortable with her in the bed. This fall however we went through a lovely stage of her not wanting to go to sleep alone. The once closed door then had to be cracked open. The monitor had to be turned on and right away. Then there was the bowl. She felt like she was going to be sick one night. Bring on the bowl. It was with her to go to sleep every night. This stage also had her getting up in the middle of the night coming to sleep with us. But not just her but also the bowl. We couldn’t have been happier that we had purchased a king size bed because that certainly made these nights tolerable. Now they weren’t ideal and we did eventually get her back to her room because Troy was ready to not have someone kicking him in the back all the time.

Those nights surely made for a more tired Brynna. Naps on the couch and on mom happened for the first time in forever. Holding my baby girl while she slept was a decent trade-off I suppose.

Halloween 2017

This Halloween we remembered to make time for pumpkin carving. It was the first year the kids got into helping with the guts more too. Well Sevea and Brynna decided to dig in more, Cohen not so much. Sevea did really well at helping with the carving of her pumpkin while Cohen and Brynna just picked their design and left the rest of the work to us. Sevea went with Bride of Frankenstein to match her costume. Cohen decided on Super Mario to go along with his love of the game. Brynna chose Tiana from Princess and the Frog.

While we didn’t  attend a Halloween party this year, we certainly wouldn’t miss out on trick or treating. We all met once again at the Witzel house and ran around the neighborhood getting as much candy as we could before our fingers and toes were about to fall off from the cold.

The Bride of Frankenstein, Ariel the Mermaid, and a Storm Trooper did pretty good on their candy haul I think.

It’s not good-bye

Doing daycare I always know that at some point each kid will move on from needing my care. Thankfully this normally happens when they are transitioning to school. It makes it easier yet it is never easy. This fall one of my first families moved on. To make this transition easier on all of us, my gift to them was a sleepover for the two kids with us. It was perfect. We had a great time and it helped all of us to remember its not good-bye, it is just see you later.

Tooth Fairy Truth

Sevea still believes in all the mythical creatures children grow up knowing and loving. I mean why stop believing. Santa…no brainer. Easter Bunny…candy! Enough said there. A fairy that brings you money in exchange for your tooth that you no longer have any use for. Why doubt it! I couldn’t help but smile and just really love her innocence when she wrote this note to the tooth fairy.

The tooth fairy’s response to her was just as cute.

The tooth fairy’s handwriting looks a lot like Troy’s Red heart

She also had a follow up note for the fairy. But the fairy didn’t have an answer back on this one.

T-shirt pjs

IMG_7424IMG_7430

I think back to my childhood and wonder if my parents ever actually bought me pajamas. I remember wearing my dads shirts to bed all the time. It’s such a fond memory so I’m not sure why it took me until age 4 and 9 for my girls to wear my shirts to bed. And it wasn’t even really my doing. It happened out of laziness of Sevea not wanting to go get her own pajamas downstairs so I gave her a t-shirt I never wear. (there was a mistake in printing so I wear the correct one…as to why Sevea and I both are able to wear the same shirt) Well Brynna definitely wasn’t going to not join in the fun and wore one too. Of course we had a little photo shoot fun with it too.
