Being that this is baby #3 I had zero expectations for having a shower thrown for me. Well Carissa knows how to make a girl feel loved and threw a sprinkle party for me.
Just like with baby #2 I was sent home with freezer meals. This time however the girls came with the meal prepared which left us time for some games. The girls wrote some fun messages on diapers for me to see when changing this little one.
I didn’t sneak a peak and just packed them in a bag so come time to change this baby I’ll definitely have something to smile about.
Of course a party to a Pearcy means sweets so we indulged in an ice cream sundae bar. It was the perfect treat on a hot sunny summer day. And even though I didn’t help with the preparation of the party I loved the concept for its simplicity. Definitely something I would want to do for different parties. And do you see that marshmallow topping? Heaven in a jar!
After a sweet treat we played a sweet game. We played a candy bar memory game. You matched a candy bar with a saying. We played it first at the baby shower for our friend Katie and I think every shower should include this game. Okay it might be partly because you get to win candy but it is also a great game to get everyone involved. Oh and the mother of the shower ends up with an incredibly cute baby as evidence of Baby Beckett Klancher!
I just have to say even though when I gave him up my arm felt like it was going to fall off, he REALLY made me excited to meet and hold our little one. Better than the opposite I suppose…did I mention he was out cold the entire time? Might have something to do with it as well :)
After the game I already felt like the day was a success but we had feet to pamper. I’ve come to appreciate the treat of a pedicure and it is even better when you have friends to gab to the whole time. Once our feet were beautified we carried on to Chili’s for some appetizers and drinks. More girl talk occurred until we cut ourselves off from the unlimited chips and salsa. We then ended the night back where the fun all started. Two of us girls (which I was one of them) had never seen the movie Beaches with Bette Midler. This was unacceptable to the other ladies so we hunkered down with some popcorn and candy from the game earlier to check this chick flick off the list of must see movies.
From the beginning of the afternoon until the end of the evening I felt loved. You can’t help but feel loved when you are surrounded by your best girl pals. This was the best gift of the day. It isn’t as often as I would like where I get to spend such a good amount of quality time with my main girls. Such a refreshing way to prepare myself for the all-consuming time of being the mom of a newborn again. Thank you Carissa for planning such a great day and thank you to each and everyone of you girls for making me feel like I couldn’t be more loved…just like how I know this baby will feel!
