Sand bottom pool

On Father’s day we made our first trip to the sand bottom pool this year. I actually think it was our first time going since the summer we moved to Shakopee. Sevea was about to turn a year old then and she’s approaching 5…4 years between visits was certainly too long. We love having this type of pool so close. It is perfect for young kids and old kids alike. The sand helps entertain the young kids who aren’t into swimming for long. The slides provide extra fun for the bigger kids or even the adults. As a family with kids three years apart it is the perfect mix for them both.

Our friends Matt and Keeley were taking their set of twins and extended the invitation to join to our family and the Zimmer family. It was fun watching how different all of the kids played even though they are all within 5 months of each other. Cohen seems to be taking after Sevea and loves the water. He was pretty fearless and would walk out further and further into the water even though his face was getting closer and closer to the water. With the sand being the bottom of the pool it provided an uneven walking surface. Cohen took one or two dips under the water with mom/dad quickly putting him back on his feet. He wasn’t even phased by it. Wipe off his face and let him cough a little and he was just fine. He enjoys blowing bubbles in the pool just as much as the bathtub. Let’s hope swimming lessons go well with him in the fall. Sevea will see a ton of pool time this summer since she is taking her swimming lessons on Sunday nights. This is the first session we’ve done that she is all on her own with the teachers. It was much harder on Troy and I than her. She gladly without hesitation went with the teachers. These moments just smack Troy and I in the face with the reality that she is growing up and growing up fast. But we are thankful that she is excited and comfortable with exploring new things without us.

We look forward to many more times of pool fun this summer. It just might become a tradition that we swim as a family before Sevea’s swimming lessons :)
