Believe it or not the Easter bunny did visit the Appeldorn house this year. I just have been a very lazy blogger and haven’t gotten around to updating lately. Well better late than never to document the fun we’ve had this past month including the Easter holiday.
Since the kids are still young and wouldn’t notice a change in how we did things, I tried a different tradition I learned about from my friends…hiding the Easter baskets and the kids would need to find them. Typically the Easter bunny just left them out in the open in the living room. Being as though they were going to find them I didn’t hide them to find in the morning because they don’t all get up at the same time. And for me the fun of a holiday is getting to watch my kids (take pictures) of the experiences. So our morning was pretty typical and the real celebrating didn’t happen until after naptime when the Zimmer’s joined us. The kids found their baskets which the Easter bunny (Troy) did not hide very hard at all. Except you would think Sevea being the oldest would have found it right away. Nope I guess the rest of us standing in the room made it hard for her to find. They were sitting on the floor where you see them in the photos. (She she was confused because she didn’t know if hers would be in her bedroom like Cohen and Brynna’s were)
Brynna got a new stroller since she has almost broke the other one being she rides in it more than the baby dolls. Cohen got a new car and a new straw cup. Sevea got a monster high doll and a miniature barbie (she realizes she only has a few left in the collection to get). Otherwise the bunny brought an outfit or pjs and a couple snack dippers and one chocolate marshmallow. Oh the mess I didn’t really think about letting Brynna eat one of those. Instead of taking bites of it she decided to pick little pieces off. I don’t think she ate much because her hands were just covered in the sticky marshmallow.
Since we emptied our baskets it was now time for the egg hunt. This was our third egg hunt again this year since we did the one at the community center again and one with all the daycare kids. But all three of the kids thought it was just as much fun the third time.
Grayson and Brody helped find the eggs as well. It was fun to see Brody really get it this time. I guess the other times were just warm up for the real event.
Brynna totally got what she was supposed to do and did a really great job at finding eggs without any help. It was so cute watching her pick up all her eggs she happened to drop when she bent over to pick up an egg. It happened more than once. She didn’t show any frustration. Just picked one by one up and moved on. A good reminder for us adults to stay calm in a similar situation.
After the kids dug through the eggs filled with candy and coins, it was time to color some eggs.
I can’t wait till they learn to take more time and really make the egg coloring last a little longer than 5 minutes (including the prep time, haha). It was a mad dash to get to the remaining eggs before the next person. But they had fun with it and that is all that matters. We ended the day with a ham dinner and were once again thankful for the blessings in our lives. The holidays sure are more fun getting to see the smiles on the kids faces.
