Hands off

Cohen decided that he wanted to play soccer this summer. His uniform picture says it all. He LOVED it. Cohen knew right away what number he wanted and it had to have the nickname CT on it. It may have been more like a dress on him but I guess the shirt will just fit longer because he is looking forward to more time playing soccer. He did really well at being aggressive and going for the ball. He began the season falling down a lot. I’m not sure if that was his technique to stop the ball or he just would lose his balance. He figured that out quickly but like many other kids this age, his hand just couldn’t stay off the ball. The kids just couldn’t figure out what to do when the ball was coming at them too high for your feet. Natural reaction is to use your hands so they continued to do that all season. Overall though he learned a lot and really enjoyed it. He had many many moments of his happy bird flapping each and every game.

It was extra fun again this summer since Grayson also decided to play soccer at the same time. These two share many of the same interests but they are yet still very different. Playing soccer never looked more different from one kid to the next. But you know what looked the same, their smile. No matter how different they played, they both left each game with huge smiles on their face and excitement for the next game. It was so great listening to their conversations afterwards about whether their team won or if they scored or if they blocked the ball while playing goalie. It definitely made for fun car rides home.
