The pumpkins are carved, the costumes are ready, and the kids are out of candy. Perfect time for Halloween! The kids started the holiday with a daycare Halloween party. They filled their goody bags and had a lot of fun playing tic-tac-toe, ball toss, decorating the skeleton, and poke-a-pumpkin. It is so hard to come up with games that kids of different ages will get and enjoy. This year was successful but I’ll be on the hunt for even better ones next year. I’m glad the poke-a-pumpkin game went over well since it is something we can use over and over. You could totally make this game for any kind of event. So easy. Go here for a tutorial.
After daycare we headed over to meet the rest of the framily at the Witzel household. Once we arrived total chaos ensued. There were crabby kids left and right. Good thing it was a Friday night and us adults all decided having a cocktail on this special Friday Halloween was a really smart idea. It surely did help with all the meltdowns we encountered. My kids were definitely included in the meltdowns.
Nothing a little pre-trick or treating sucker can’t solve…well and actually getting out and trick or treating. Cohen and Sevea both earned their candy by running from house to house. They literally left all the other kids behind. It was hard to make them slow down because who wants to hold them back from being active. It also kept mom and dad running so we earned those drinks and candy later too!
All the kids had a great time and came back home with lots of candy in their buckets. One minor issue with this Halloween, the neighborhood we went in seemed to miss the memo that I really like laffy taffy. I searched through bucket after bucket and came up empty handed. Might have to switch neighborhoods next year
