Shrine Circus

Lions and tigers and….elephants oh my! The circus came to town. One of my daycare kiddos went to the circus last year and I made it a point to remember to get tickets for this year. I haven’t been to the circus since I was little and was excited to experience it with the kids. We went the weekend of Grayson’s birthday and made it a fun outing with the Zimmer's.

Sevea had no problem with the clowns. The two boys however were not the biggest fans. Cohen did not want to be by the clown at all! Grayson wasn’t too sure. He didn’t want to be by the clown yet he was still a little interested, sneaking peaks here and there.

Grayson is a pretty adventurous kid when it comes to food. He is pretty willing to try anything and likes most things. So it was quite surprising when he didn’t like the best thing on the face of the earth….cotton candy! He kept taking some and each attempt was no better than the last. It was funny yet we cried a couple tears for the wasted cotton candy he threw on the floor.

After a quick pony ride for Grayson, we got settled into our seats and waited for the show to begin.

With our new swords in hand, we were ready for the show. Or the first half anyway.

The show was supposed to last a total of 2 hours including an intermission. Somehow it ran over and ended up lasting 2 1/2 hours. That extra 1/2 hour sure makes a big difference when you are dealing with young kids. Cohen did great for the first half. Sat the entire time and really enjoyed certain parts of the show (the more dramatic or high energy stuff was his favorite). Then the intermission just killed his patience. Not to mention the acts after the intermission were low energy ones. Thankfully he came back around with the high energy music of the Chicago boys act. He loved watching them tumble and jump all around. Sevea enjoyed the whole show. She had been talking about being an acrobat when she grows up so it was fun for her to see them in person. I’m not thinking that dream will stick….you never know though. We’ll see how much her love changes for it when we go back in say 5 years when Brynna and Brody are around Sevea’s age.
