Big girl weekend

Our little girl is growing up! We spent the weekend venturing into more big girl things. Friday night we planned to have the crib converted and have her first night with no diaper. However the night got away from us and we didn't get the crib converted but she still spent the night in underwear and not a diaper. She had done so well for so long in not going in her diaper we were hopeful that she would have success with wearing underwear.

We were happy to find in the morning a dry little girl!! She did great and we definitely talked about how proud we were of her. The next night we were determined to make the switch to a big girl bed. Our crib converts to a toddler/daybed by easily taking off the front. We didn't purchase the rail that goes with it but figured the bed is pretty low to the ground that she would be fine with some pillows on the floor.

Instead of books, a new bedtime routine is to have a dance party. Troy and Sevea searching for songs!

We said our good nights and hoped for the best. We checked in a couple minutes later and she was still laying in the bed. Before we knew it she was asleep and in her big girl bed doing well.

We never heard a peep the entire night and were excited to see her still asleep in the bed the next morning. She woke up and made very little noise. She normally will yell Mommy Mommy Mommy and then switch to Daddy Daddy Daddy until someone comes to get her. This morning she eventually got out of bed and tried to open the door (yup she is still too short!!). We heard the rattling and opened the door. She was SUPER happy and excited with how proud we were of her. She literally bounced around the house for a couple minutes. I'd call that a successful first night!

And she woke up dry once again!

We thought the real challenge could be nap time. But again she amazed us by laying down and falling asleep pretty quickly without any commotion. I think this little girl takes more time than most to figure out how to be naughty :) We surely think the next child will not be as easy and fully expect to have our hands full with her come the teenage years or sooner!!

Although she did really well both nights, we do expect to wake up and find her like this some mornings as well :) She is waking up a little in this picture but we found her completely flat on the floor this morning. She must have woken up in the night and got out of bed versus falling. We assume this because her baby is next to her. She never made a peep (at least one we could hear). Although we are excited the new steps into becoming a big girl went so well, we are a little sad in realizing this little girl is growing up. We are loving every minute we get with her and can't help but be thankful of how much our family has grown and will grow in the future.
